I have lots of magnetics to choose from for my Magnetic Poetry play day. I got a little crazy and chose one word from every bag. I'm not going to do that again!
people, teacher, ball, stare, yesterday, everlasting, catches the worm
History catches the worm
in an everlasting dance with destiny
while Future's teacher gets the ball rolling
past crowds of people
who simply stand

This one packs a punch and invites multiple readings. Those "crowds of people/who simply stand/and/stare." give me the shivers.ReplyDelete
This is most excellent use of that hodgepodge of words. Future's teacher gets the ball rolling. Wow! Great Idiom-osophy!ReplyDelete
Love the alliteration in "dance with destiny" and the way your poem gets skinny on the page. Did you remember which bag each magnet belongs to?ReplyDelete
That phrase, "history catches the worm" is such cool way to turn that idiom over, to emphasize how stories that frame and order help move things forward (along with just being there, early and enthusiastic.)ReplyDelete
And I agree with Molly, that phrase is haunting. Powerful.
