Found Object Poem Project

She struggled
to keep her face blank,
unreadable.

The news
made her shoulders tense,
took her breath,

blinded her.
An unimaginable future
stretched ahead.

  1. I have no idea who's speaking here (ostensibly, the doll). I didn't even think I'd manage a poem today. I just sat down and composed and this is what came out. Now I'm curious. I want to know more of the story. I'm thinking this poem connects to the speaker in my Day 1 poem. Hmm...

Moral of the story -- always give it a try...surprises await!!

  2. I love the morale of the story, Mary Lee. This is so true of writing. Surprises Await! The quest to find out more about the story will lead to other poems, I am sure, Mary Lee.

  4. Wow. That's a powerful poem: "unimaginable future/ stretched ahead"! I'm reading THE HONEST TRUTH to the kids now. I think the speaker could easily be Mark, too.

And what a great moral. I need to pay attention to that one.
