PO-EMotion -- Hope

SNAPSHOTS

The chemicals begin to drip.
She can feel her veins burning.

Fish are rising
in the deep pool across the stream.

Mother waves from the screen door
as the car pulls out of the drive.

Fingertips rest lightly on the keyboard.
Screen glows impassively.

  1. Sorry for the false start today (if you got last night's draft in the three minutes it was live before I yanked it down).

I don't know if this is an "assay," so I called it snapshots. Each of these images refused to be their own poem last night, so I just made an album this morning.

  2. Such tender, hopeful "photos", Mary Lee. Each one helps me see how hope might be connected to vulnerability, for when one hopes...one stakes a claim on the future that may not be. How close are hope and sorrow related? Sisters?

Many thanks for your album and for the opportunity to think about hope this AM.

I certainly felt the impassive glow of the screen last night, too! And I almost didn't send out my poem this AM, but, then, why not, afterall?

  3. A song for spring, which is arriving in our parts each day.

    Elemental Spring Song

hope raise up the peeper’s call, hey-ho, hey-ho
hope raise up that peeper’s call, across the still cold water

hope raise up the bellwort flowers, hey-ho hey-ho
hope raise up those bellwort flowers from deep inside the earth

hope raise up the flying kestrel, hey-ho, hey-ho
hope raise up that fleet ol’ kestrel, slicing through the air

hope raise up the campfire stories, hey-ho, hey-ho
hope raise up those campfire stories ‘round the warmth of the fire

    1. Yours makes me want to dance! Does it go with a well-known tune? Could it be part of Amy LV's challenge? :-)
